Philippines’ longest beach has no hotels, bars, vendors, and hardly any visitors.
Here you can stroll along the 14 km white sand and just meet a few people, mostly fishermen living in simple houses under the palm groves.
With the miserable way here, tourism is almost non-existent and accommodation can only be obtained in a few small guest houses or private rooms, in San Vicente, 10 minutes walking distance from the southern end of the beach. And in a small lodge in nerbay village.
But the ambitious plan is to develop the province and a major airport is on track to be completed, perhaps next year. Hopefully it will be a gentle environmentally friendly exploitation of coastal areas and the beautiful surroundings of paddy fields and green wooded mountains in the background.
It’s a nice feeling after visiting several messy tourist resorts to be in a place where no one is interested in making money on me. Tourism is not regarded as an added set – yet. Teh atmosphere is lazily relaxed, calm before the storm, with resource-rich investors who are on the go.
Watch a clip of Long Beach in San Vicente with the entire 14 km long stretch in a single fast sweep (a couple of clips in).
More on Long Beach’s this image rich blog from a very very good Filipino photographer.
